F-gas regulations & R22 Phase out information

F-gas Legislation.

Since July 4th, 2007, the new F-gas legislation has made it imperative to have your equipment regularly checked for leaks and be adequately maintained by a qualified supplier. We are involved with the battle to clean up and stop fluorinated greenhouse gases, covered by the Kyoto Protocol, leaking into the atmosphere from faulty or ill maintained air conditioning equipment. Our engineers are fully trained to meet the requirements of the legislation in order to help customers properly maintain their equipment.

The legislation also demands that companies must have equipment tested regularly, clearly identified and labelled relevant equipment, also to keep comprehensive records of usage for inspection.

Choosing our aftercare maintenance service on your equipment includes the cover of these regulatory obligations.

The phase out of Refrigerant R22.

Under EU Ozone Regulation EC2037/2000, by the end of 2009 the use of virgin R22 refrigerant will be banned, but it will be permissible to use recycled R22 for maintenance purposes until the end of 2014.

However, there is no guarantee on the quality and availability of the refrigerant and industry experts are predicting stocks of recycled R22 to be depleted well before the end of 2014 which will inevitably result in the increase in the supply of the remaining refrigerant.

Equipment using R22, whilst at the time of installation was efficient, but due to improvement in design and more efficient refrigerants now available such as R410A and R407C in some cases there can be more than a 50% reduction in operation cost’s.

If you own refrigeration or air conditioning equipment operating on R22 refrigerant, we would strongly advise that you consider reviewing your options in order to minimise the impact on your company, both operationally and financially.

We can provide a no-obligation audit of your air conditioning and refrigeration systems which will enable us to determine the most suitable action to ensure that not only will your company comply with the new legislation but also facilitate you in saving money through significantly reduced energy costs.
